John Askew has built himself a stellar reputation in music, conjuring smiles to everyone’s faces with his mind-blowing sound, and the trance producer performs magic once more.

John Askew’s new remix of Solarstone & Alex Karweit’s ‘Breakaway’ will shatter across the global dancefloors at blazing 140 trance-speed and you can now grab your copy here.

“Would you believe five or six years have passed since the idea of this remix was originally discussed,” John Askew revealed to fans on a recent Facebook post about the thrilling new remix.

“I loved his version but had an idea of how I could make something a bit more banging / bit more 140 with some old school PvD style plucks. I had the layout and sounds all clear as day in my head. But when I got round to starting it – it just didn’t come out or flow how I’d intended. It wasn’t till I got to version 32…”

This remix has more impact and bangs away with a powerful, upfront sound.

It’s the first production the legend has released with a proper vocal in a decade and says it’s “more than likely the last for another decade.”

“I find myself disliking 90% of the vocals I hear in trance. Too much Gorgonzola in the lyrics department. Cliché central. Often decent enough vocalists who can really sing – but unfortunately singing about the same insincere bullshit as the fifteen vocalists before them. If only they’d listen to more band music when looking for inspiration when writing.”

“But this vocal I love. Proper lyrics that don’t just focus on the obvious.”
