5 things you should know about Australia’s newest trance act, AURA

Meet AURA, one of Australia’s most talented female trance acts.

Hailing from Queensland, AURA, the female duo consisting of Indiana and Montie started their music journey by participating in the prestigious nationwide DJ talent-searching contest, ‘YOURSHOT’. After a very successful campaign and a tremendous amount of hard work, the duo finished the competition as runners-up and narrowly falling short of taking out the grand prize in Queensland’s division of the competition.

This then led AURA to having opportunities supporting some of Australia’s own biggest artists across a multitude of dance music genres.

AURA also experienced a wider variety of music genres and had the opportunity to explore outside the usual realms of club nights and experience other music experiences such as being able to gain support from some of the biggest international artists in the trance world and learning the reasons for their success along the way. Eventually creating their own podcast series as they ventured into their darker psychedelic-trance influenced ‘PsyAura’ alias.

In early 2016, the duo parted their separate ways, with Indiana taking on the full reins of the AURA project and alias and continuing on the musical journey, taking AURA to new heights in the local Australian trance music scene.

Here’s five things you should know about this incredible new talent:

#1 The Sound of AURA

AURA’s sound captures a host of variety and diversity and is all about taking the true trance lover on real journey through the realms of trance. This includes anything from big room progressive trance through to psychedelic trance, through to the uplifting, tech and harder classic trance sounds.  With AURA sighting a diverse range of international artists including David Gravell, Andrew Rayel, Armin van Buuren, Simon Patterson, Ranji and Australian artists MaRLo, Jano and Exis, as key influences of their developed sound.

#2 AURA’s most memorable event was the YourShot series in 2015

In an in-depth interview with Dance Music Australia, AURA revealed that it was the first time she ‘experienced the rush you get from being on stage preforming in front of a live audience’ and ‘probably one of the best experiences’ she ever felt.

“I am pretty excited about 2016 though and what other memories and awesome experiences I’ll have in the near future!” she also said. Click here to read the full interview.

#3 AURA has performed alongside some of the biggest psychedelic international trance artists in the scene

Including Captain Hook, Freedom Fighters and Berg and now just about to also perform alongside mega psychedelic trance outfit Upgrade on their upcoming Australia tour.

#4 Exciting new productions
