Sydney trance act to play 8 hour open to close set this May

Longer sets truly showcase oneโ€™s ability to take an entire crowd on a journey.

These days it can be hard to catch your favourite DJ play a longer set due to the high demand of artists being filled across line-ups, providing fans with an hour teaser instead of what could potentially be an incredible three (or eight) hour musical journey.

In a bid to show Australia the art of playing longer DJ sets, Sydney act Amy Parnell will hit the decks for 8 hours (open to close) at 42 Darlinghurst Road (formerly The Bank Hotel) on May 15th, 2016.

“My idea at the moment is simply to curate a journey through music that I love. It’s a cool venue that doesn’t get used for trance gigs and I am hoping it will be a really nice vibe on the Sunday afternoon. We will start out nice and chilled and just dance our way through the different genre’s and BPM’s! I am using this not only as an opportunity to play a great event and give it a bit of a personal touch but to share my musical knowledge and tastes,” Amy recently told The Trance Project.

Amy has shared the stage with some ofย  the biggest names in the scene including Bryan Kearney, Coming Soon!!!, Standerwick, Indencent Noise, Dan Stone and hosts a monthly trance radio show ‘Advanced Music’ on Afterhours.FM โ€“ there’s no slowing down for Amy Parnell and she promises to deliver 8 hours of musical bliss at the upcoming open to close event.

“There will be classics and songs you don’t get to hear out regularly, songs that I find on my musical hunts and don’t have the opportunity to play at other gigs, I have some really cool hard trance (think Eddie Halliwell BOSH! stuff!), some chunky driving techno, beautiful melodic warmup stuff, bright and happy progressive tunes plus so much more. Trance fans can expect to hear from labels I love such as Subculture, Kearnage, Mental Asylum, Discover Dark, FSOE, Damaged and for the lovers of the progressive and techno flavours you will hear from Silk, Yin Yang, J00F and Soma to name a few,” she says.

Amy also told The Trance Project that the gig is the most challenging and nerve racking thing she’s ever done, but is aiming to create an experience where people can walk away and say “wow, that was so much fun, what a journey!

“I have spoken to a number of artists such as Freedom Fighters, Jase Thirlwall, Ben Nicky, Maria Healy and Daniel Skyver who have been really encouraging of me and the event, and there is a HUGE surprise that I will reveal soon that has got me even more pumped for it!”

“I encourage you to come and see that locals can do what international artists do, anybody can smash out an hour long warmup or closer for events but I can also create an atmosphere and vibe and be just as diverse and I am excited to show what I bring to the table!”
