Hi Ferry, we’re absolutely thrilled for your return back to Australia! With less than a month to go, what’s going through your mind right now?

“I can’t wait to be back. It’s my annual visit and after many years I’m back with a club tour which is a nice change from Stereosonic.”

What do you love most about Australia’s trance scene?

“Very dedicated, loyal, and gung ho for a good time.”

Do you have a favorite place in the world to perform these days?

“It’s great to perform in America. It’s one big country with so many cities but I do love Asia and Japan.”

What’s the best way to stay sane on the road?

“Always try to get enough sleep, try to work out when you can and pace yourself with partying.”

No stranger to Marquee Sydney, you’ll be hitting the nightclub this Halloween (find tickets here)! What can fans expect from your upcoming set on October 31? Will you be testing out new material?

“Definitely testing new material for my Hello World EP3 that’s coming out soon. In general fans can count on an energetic trance set.”

The success that accompanied the return of Gouryella must have been really exciting. Can we expect any future releases under the Gouryella alias?

“I’ve always said never say never… the resurgence of Gouryella definitely sparked a lot of interest in that particular sound again.”

Would you be willing to share a production tip for the young Aussie producers out there who want to emulate the Corsten sound?

“First of all its never about the tempo. Forget about 138 and 140. A proper trance record is all about the melody. Don’t try to be the next Ferry, Armin, Markus, or Above & Beyond…instead try to be the next you.”

Do you remember the moment when you knew that a career in music was what you wanted to do?

“I was still at school, but I did my music as a hobby on the side. At a certain moment, I realised that the income I was earning out of this hobby would be enough as a real job. I’ve never looked back since then.”

What was the first record you ever bought?

“Paul Hardcastle – Don’t Waste My Time.”

Who inspired you the most when growing up?

“My dad.”

Any last words to your Australian fans?

“I can’t wait to see you guys soon! It’s always a real treat for me to be there.”
