Trance legend Johan Gielen recovering well from urgent appendix surgery

Full statement below.

Johan Gielen

Johan Gielen revealed that he underwent urgent surgery on April 4, due to a perforated appendix.

“The operation went well. I was there just in time, my appendix had burst,” Johan Gielen shared on Facebook.

“The doctor told me the day before that it was a kidney stone (by phone). So, I walked around with it for 36 hours and I realise now how lucky I am.”

Johan Gielen is universally recognised as a pioneer and legend of the global Trance scene and known for the classic hits under his Airscape alias with Sven Maes including ‘Pacific Melody’, ‘L’Esperanza’, ‘Amazon Chant’ and ‘Sosei’, plus their Svenson & Gielen anthems ‘The Beauty of Silence’, ‘Twisted’, ‘Answer the Question’ and many more.

They also delivered some of the most enthralling remixes including stunning renditions of Chicane’s ‘Halcyon’, Delerium’s ‘Silence’ with Sarah McLachlan, Vengaboys ‘Kiss (When The Sun Don’t Shine)’, Tiësto’s ‘Sparkles’ and more.

“Tip: In case of acute and serious pain, call an ambulance, in these times of Corona they only have one thing in mind and wrong diagnoses can be made. Need to recover here for a couple of days with high antibiotics, keep y’all posted 😘” he wrote.

Wishing Johan a speedy recovery!
