You recently launched social media pages for ‘Banana Bros’, along with several teasers of new productions, how have the reactions been?

The reactions have been great and we are pleased with how people have given us positive feedback. We have been working on our music for quite a while in silence, but of course you tell people that you working on something considering that’s all you do every day and here and there you show curious people your work. The Trance community is so close in Sydney and I guess people started talking. Then we started to get people asking us to release something, so we felt now would be the right time to show people what we have been working on.

How would you describe the ‘Banana Bros’ sound?

Ohh I guess that’s not something you ask yourself when you make music, you just go with what you love and develop your sound. Being a duo we both have different styles and sounds when working together or individually creating a track. Combined our sound we believe is that pure trance sound with a hard hitting bassline and an emotional energy to match. I guess the sound speaks for itself

What’s the meaning behind the artist name ‘Banana Bros’?

Haha it’s a funny story. We wanted a name which showed our personalities firstly. Also we wanted to have something which made people realise we are twins. We love to laugh and have fun and wanted to reflect that in our name but still create a really pure hard hitting sound. Sort of a Yin & Yang style with how the name contrasts our style. We were thinking of our favourite duos in history and 2 that stood out were Donkey & Diddy Kong and Super Mario Bros as we grew up loving Nintendo games. Being twin brothers we’ve been called B1 and B2 so many times in our lives so we thought of Banana Bros (Brothers) and it kinda stuck. It’s also an easy name to remember so yeh that’s kinda how it was born.

Are there any songs from your official soundcloud page that have a particularly significant meaning for you? Or is there a great story behind one of the songs?

Yes and No. I mean each song has a story behind it in the sense we sat there for hours and hours and learnt to become better with each one. But we are only at the very beginning of our journey and that special song and great story will come later on. This is only the very beginning and only now we know we are getting to that professional level. In time we will have our stories no doubt

Which artists inspire you the most?

B1 (Lax): I’d have to say Sneijder – the man is an absolute genius and one hell of a nice guy.

B2 (Lokesh): For me it would be Darren Porter. Production quality is immense and one of the best in the world at what he does.

What are your goals for 2016?

2016 will be our first year to release tracks under a professional label. It is a goal we know that will definitely happen this year. Another goal is to start playing at more events; however we are heavily invested in building our productions this year and bringing out some solid tracks.

Melbourne has some great talent emerging and we need to be the voice of Sydney. Can’t let us fall behind haha

Do you remember the moment when you knew that a career in music was what you both wanted to do?

B1 (Lax): I wouldn’t put it down to a single moment. Music has always been something which I’ve loved and ever since I was younger I wanted to make music. I actually used to love hip hop and used to write rhymes believe it or not. Then I fell in love with trance. At that point I said to myself that I’d become a part of the genre and know it inside out before I started producing. The journey took some time to start but once it did I knew that is what I wanted to do.

B2 Lokesh: I can’t say when the exact moment but we both started producing 2 years ago a few months apart, so in a way that would be one crucial point in time we both decided to really go for it. I have always been a big believer in following your dreams and that anything is possible. This is our dream and our love for music is so immense there is nothing we would rather do then to make it our lives.

What do you think?
