Aly & Fila talk new album ‘It’s All About The Melody’

We caught up with Aly & Fila!

Aly & Fila are easily set apart from the ordinary modern Trance act.

With their new album ‘It’s All About The Melody’, the duo doubles down on their entrancing soundscapes, whilst leaping further into their melodic sensibility.

“It’s always a challenge to attempt a new artist album. The mission was to keep improving from an artistic point of view as musicians and for listeners to enjoy the journey,” Aly & Fila recently told Trance Project.

Congratulations on the release of your new album โ€˜Itโ€™s All About The Melodyโ€™. What was the mission you both set out when completing this album?

Thank you very much. It’s our sixth artist album, which we are extremely proud of. It’s always a challenge to attempt a new artist album. The mission was to keep improving from an artistic point of view as musicians and for listeners to enjoy the journey.

Was there anything you knew you wanted to do differently musically this time around, to separate it and make this album its own thing?

To keep being innovative and the album title really says it all… “It’s all about the melody”. The melodies of any music takes you to a place where you want to go, the feeling of a melody really brings out the joy and emotion of a track.

What do you hope your fans get out of your new album?

Enjoyment and to be taken on a journey. An album is an experience, the flow of the album is important.

Do you feel that an album gives you the best way to tell your story, rather than releasing singles?

For this album we did things a bit differently, we have released a track off the album each month throughout the year, whereas normally you might release 3-4 tracks from the album within a year. We feel this has given the album a long sustained build-up to the climax of the full album being released.

Being in the music business for so long, how do you both keep things fresh?

Keep bouncing ideas together, travelling a lot you see different cultures and also experience different countries that can inspire you musically.
