Trance music world reacts to Daft Punk’s shocking split

The Trance music scene have been quick to react to the announcement of Daft Punk’s split.

After 28 years together, the ‘One More Time’ and ‘Around The World’ hit-makers are calling it quits, after announcing their split through an eight-minute film sequence on YouTube.

The short film shows the French duo – Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo – venture out in the desert in their trademark futuristic outfits where one gets blown up! The video ends with a pair of robot hands alongside the time stamp: 1993-2021. Their publicist later confirmed that the short video was announcing their split.

Trance music artists including Chris Schweizer, Indecent Noise, Sam Laxton, Orjan Nilsen, Heatbeat, Steve Dekay and more are taking to social media to express their appreciation for the group.

“Even robots needs rest. Your legacy will live forever, Thank you and farewell,” Arty wrote on Twitter. Steve Dekay tweeted: “They have been the greatest inspiration for many of us, their music will last forever, thank you idols!” and Chris Schweizer shared: “Thank you for being the soundtrack of my life.”

Daft Punk inspired the entire scene and was a monumentally influential force in electronic music and beyond.
