Meet one of MaRLo’s biggest fans

Meet Sam Skrzeczynski, one of MaRLo’s biggest fans.

Sam2Sam Skrzeczynski first discovered ‘The MaRLo Sound’ during an episode of A State of Trance and after realising the trance hero was from Australia, he decided to find more of his music and instantly fell in love with tracks such as ‘The Island’ and ‘Is It Real’.

“Over time my favourite MaRLo track keeps changing due to the high quality productions being released each time, but the songs that really stick out for me are ‘Hold It Together’, ‘The Dreamers’ & the new collab with Chloe‘You and Me’. I have always been a sucker for vocal trance and I have such a strong connection to the lyrics to these songs,” Sam told The Trance Project.

As part of the lead up to MaRLo’s highly anticipated national tour ‘Altitude’, we recently caught up with the Brisbane fan to talk all things MaRLo!

How excited are you for MaRLo’s Altitude tour?

Sam Skrzeczynski: Excited doesn’t even come close to describe how I feel for this forthcoming historic tour. I have seen him many times over the years and I’ve always wanted to see him showcase his back catalogue of music during his shows, and ‘Altitude’ is perfect for this. I am really excited to see the live vocal performances by some of the best in the industry, it’s going to be absolutely amazing! I am very proud that he is able to bring this massive tour to the fans.

What was it like when you first met MaRLo? Can you tell us about any memorable moments you’ve had with him?

Sam Skrzeczynski: I first met MaRLo after witnessing a club set back in February 2013. Back in those days, many people were unaware of the MaRLo Sound and the following wasn’t as strong as other cities, but it definitely made it more intimate and memorable.

I’ve had many great moments with him over the years; ‘boom dancing’ twice on stage, getting the microphone to sing “I will make you understand” when he dropped ‘Darkside’, but more recently, I had an incredible time travelling down to Sydney to see MaRLo perform on my Birthday. That night ended up being his last residency show at the venue and we celebrated his first appearance into the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s at #91.

What does MaRLo’s music mean to you?

Sam Skrzeczynski: When I listen to his music and hear certain songs, I feel I can relate to some of the lyrics on a very personal level with the struggles I’ve been through in the past. His music really inspires my creative side and makes me want to pursue my goals. When he said that his “plan B is try plan A again” in the documentary, ‘The Journey So Far’, it made me realise that if you have a dream or set of goals, it’s important to keep perusing and following these with hard work and determination because if you have something you love its important to keep working at it.

Would you like to share any kind words to our Aussie Trance hero?

Sam Skrzeczynski: Keep doing what you’re doing. I love the direction your music is going and the amazing friendship we have formed over the years. Seeing you perform and chatting with you after shows has really made me respect you as a person and an artist. I can’t wait for even more people across the world to discover and fall in love with The MaRLo Sound.

Sam Skrzeczynski is also a contributor to MaRLo’s Facebook fan page group.

I want to give a big mention to Stel Pavlos who is the original actual creator of the fan page back when it first formed back in March 2014,” Sam also wanted to share.

“Many people actual believe this was formed from me but I can’t take all the credit for this. When Stel first created the page he started something quite special and unique and had a vision for the page to grow, unfortunately due to other commitments he then handed the page over to another fan by the name of Matt Biggs. Matt had seen how passionate I was towards supporting MaRLo and also made me an admin of the page. The page has recently just hit over 1800 members and we have an amazing group of people helping out.”
