Over the past two decades, Armin van Buuren has become one of the biggest and most influential Trance music artists in the world.
On Saturday night (Jan. 28), Armin van Buuren more than demonstrated why that is, taking party goers at Sydney Showground on a five-hour music odyssey that dipped into enough of his ‘Embrace’ material without alienating the fans who were there to hear the classics and other euphoric sounds.
The legendary Dutch DJ/producer commanded the stage at midnight, kept attendees smiling, dancing, with plenty of hands-in-the-air action from his epic opener, all the way through to his mind-blowing vinyl set.
The show featured a strong corps of dancers, striking visuals, pyrotechnics and magnificent vocal performances. But, most of all, there was contagious enthusiasm and energy to his performance.
Armin van Buuren knows how to work a room, even one with thousands of people in it.
“He never disappoints. Visuals were on point and his music just made you want to dance. As usual, his genuine smile just shows how much he loves what he does and wants his fans to have an amazing time while he does it,” Sam Egan, a long term Armin fan, told The Trance Project.
Sydney fan Adib revealed that Armin Only changed his life. “I’ve never felt so inspired after going anywhere ever, not even my own childbirth.”
In the last hour of the show the entire crowd were in a state of trance as he segued into some classic anthems for his much anticipated vinyl set, delivering a powerful performance.
From Push’s ‘Strange World’ to Bart Claessen’s ‘Playmo (1st Play)’ and other classic trancers including, OceanLab’s ‘Satellite’, Binary Finary’s ‘1998’, Yahel & Eyal Barkan’s ‘Voyage’, Saltwater’s ‘The Legacy’, Substate’s ‘Horizon’, just to name a few, no one wanted his vinyl set to end.
And it weren’t only the visitors that witnessed the unforgettable hour, but also the thousands of people tuning into the live stream on The Trance Project’s Facebook page, sharing their love on social media, one fan revealing that it’s something he’ll “cherish forever.”
Another follower wrote “This is the Armin i fell in love with,” and Liz from Perth told The Trance Project: “That vinyl set . . . So. Much. Awesome.”
