8 Trance Fans Share Their ASOT 700 Australia Experience

We knew that Australia had some very passionate trance fans. But the energy and love that we all felt during the ASOT 700 Celebration Weekend was incredible!

Thousands of Aussie ASOT lovers gathered in Melbourne & Sydney, celebrating a milestone in trance history. Armin van Buuren couldn’t have asked for a better kick off to his new ASOT Festival tour.

ASOT 700 landed in Luna Park Sydney on February 5, for a mind-blowing intimate show! ASOT fans were welcomed by the beats of Armin van Buuren, Ben Gold & Australia’s MaRLo – It was a magical night, with so many highlights.

The celebration continued that weekend in Melbourne & Sydney, the sets of Aly & Fila, Bryan Kearney, GAIA, David Gravell & Armin van Buuren rocked the crowd, providing Australia with the perfect tunes.

Local heroes MaRLo, Nick Arbor and Thomas Hayes joined the stellar line-up in Sydney and an additional stage was added featuring Alexander Popov, Ben Gold, Omnia and Jorn van Deynhoven. This was a night to remember, as we celebrated the 700^th episode of A State Of Trance.

“What a night! The closest thing to heaven on Earth! Half of my crew said they couldn’t attend because they were all getting married soon. So we came up with the idea to make A State of Trance into ‘A State of Bucks’ instead – their partners’ couldn’t say no to that! We travelled to Sydney from Adelaide and it was the best weekend I’ve ever had. Best music on the planet!”

“The opening set by Thomas Hayes & Nick Arbor at Stage 2 was one of the best sets of the night. I was dancing so hard, I thought I was making an ass of myself, but shortly after Ben Gold started, I get a tap on the shoulder and Thomas Hayes himself is there telling me and my friend how awesome it was seeing us enjoy the set that much. I even got a photo with him. It was by far the coolest experience I’ve ever had at a show!”

“For my favourite #ASOT700 moment, instead of listing the best sets of the night, or the debut of GAIA, I’m going to have to say the moment MaRLo was left almost in tears and speechless. I think it goes to show that the DJ’s minds are as much into a state of trance as we are, and they too get overwhelmed with the feels ! Actually I think it’s that much of an iconic moment that I had to sketch it.”

“Travelling from rural New Zealand and at 58 years old, I was probably the oldest trance fan at #ASOT700 in both Melbourne and Sydney. Apart from the truly amazing trance performances (seeing GAIA live twice in two days was a true privilege) the number of strangers that Hi 5’d, hugged and wanted to dance with me was a highlight. These amazing young people were the icing on the fantastic cake that was ASOT 700. Cheers guys, I’ll be back!”
