Meet Aly & Fila’s biggest fan

A lifetime fan of the legendary duo, Joanne first discovered Aly & Fila’s uplifting sound after coming across the classic ‘Eye of Horus’ on YouTube in 2006.

“It was the first trance track I’ve ever heard and it started my love for the genre. That’s why I love Aly & Fila so much, they were my first trance love. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since!” she told The Trance Project.

“Aly & Fila’s music means the world to me. I know that sounds cliché, but it does! Whenever I’m feeling down or stressed out, I isolate myself with a pair of headphones to listen to Aly & Fila’s music and it heals me,” she continued.

“It has helped me through all of my darkest moments in life. Especially when I’m at an Aly & Fila event, even though the music was so beautiful and I wanted to cry, I simply couldn’t cry because I remember those broken moments and the music that lifted me out of those moments and it always brings me infinite joy. That’s why you’ll always see me smiling at events.”

Joanne thought all her dreams had come true in 2013, when she briefly interacted with duo member Fadi at Stereosonic and had another encounter with him during ‘The Other Shore’ Aussie Tour in 2014.

But her luck continued last year, when Fadi pulled her on stage at FSOE400 Melbourne in front of thousands of trance fans, thanking her for everything she has achieved for Aly & Fila, and handed over a special FSOE400 artwork signed by all the artists.

“Thinking back to FSOE400 in Melbourne puts a huge smile on my face because this was and still is the greatest moment I have ever experienced in my life. To be honest, I can’t remember exactly how I felt on stage but I do remember that I was immensely overwhelmed,” she revealed.

As for Joanne’s all-time favourite Aly & Fila song, she told The Trance Project there are quite a few tracks that she’d consider to be more favourable than others, but ‘We Control The Sunlight’ has a very special place in her heart. It’s a track that, when heard live, can either bring her endless joy or can make her cry like a baby – she loves it so much!

“When Aly & Fila played ‘We Control the Sunlight’ at the FSOE400 after party, he called me on stage to hug me while the track was playing. It was such a special moment for me.”

Joanne is one of the world’s most passionate trance fans, devoting her time to create a Facebook group dedicated to Aly & Fila and the FSOE brand and she also organised the successful campaign for FSOE400 – which resulted in 1000 people holding up signs in the air during Fadi’s set at ASOT700 – her dedication is truly inspiring.

“Every memory that I’ve shared with Aly & Fila has been a great memory! One memory that stands out the most is when Fadi found and willingly joined my Facebook group ‘Aly & Fila Appreciation Society’ (AFAS) and posted a status in the group: ‘Just wanted to thank u all for creating this group,’ I’ll never forget that.”
