Perth DJ says “Trance can have such a strong positive impact on people’s lives.”

The Trance Project recently spoke with Perth act ‘Stibblett’ to talk about Perth’s trance scene, his career and all things music.

A vision of progression, is exactly what drives Perth artist ‘Stibblett’ to work out his magic on the decks.

“I feel that my main aim for me as an artist is progression, not just in the sense of a solo set but for a whole night to just have a seamless flow of building energy, there is nothing better than that in my opinion,” he told The Trance Project.

“I like to play a range of styles depending on what kind of event it is and what time I get to play, whether that be warming up with some progressive and percussive tunes just to get people moving, playing a slot to cater for some classics, or smashing a set with some heads down slamming Psy-trance.”

In addition to providing magical moments on dance floors throughout Perth, the local talent also revealed that “music is more than just nights out,” it’s a lifestyle, he can’t go a day without it.

“There is something so so special about it, how it can bring people together or even make people cry, myself included,” he says.

“I didn’t realise that I enjoyed and was actually passionate about music until I was 19, I think this is around when I truly discovered the beauty of trance music.”

“I’ve made lifelong friendships through music that normally would not happen outside of it for which I absolutely cherish. I feel I make the strongest connections with people who love and enjoy music as much as myself. I think this is why trance can have such a strong positive impact on people’s lives.”

He also spoke about Perth’s incredible scene: “I’ve been here for about 5 years and the scene has definitely diversified, there’s a lot of styles to cater for everyone now and I think that’s awesome!”

“We have ‘Habitat’ who generally cater for house but can put on Anjunadeep type events, ‘Amon Vision’ who have hosted a range of big names, Perth has hosted Trangression Events, we have a big arts & Psychedelic following and ‘PuraVida’ put on wicked parties to cater for that.”

“The ‘Bad Habit’ crew are quickly establishing themselves here with good quality local nights and they’ve recently hosted Adam Ellis but set of the year for me so far, was when they hosted Neptune Project for a monster 5 hour set! We also have ‘Electrified’ who has long been Perth’s reputable hard dance, hard trance night. ‘Trancition’ cater for the harder sounds of trance and hardstyle and of course, we have ‘Limelite’ & ‘Dream in Colour’ who bring over the larger scale events.

“There’s pretty much something for everyone here in Perth & that’s really good to see!”
