5 reasons to get excited for Above & Beyond Acoustic at Sydney Opera House

Next week marks the final leg of Above & Beyond’s Acoustic tour, reaching the Aussie harbour city on Monday June 6 for two performances.

Above & Beyond’s month long tour launched on April 28 with five shows set in London, Utrecht and Manchester. A North American leg began on May 13 and included shows in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Berkeley, Los Angeles, and will reach Honolulu on May 31 before heading to Sydney in June for their last two shows.

Performing the trio’s best loved songs and re-imagining them as rich orchestral acoustic arrangements, ‘Above & Beyond Acoustic’ promises to be an unforgettable show and here’s five reasons to get excited.

#1 Above & Beyond will make their debut at the Sydney Opera House

With its sails swirling with colour for Vivid Festival, there’s no better time for Above & Beyond to perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Performing inside the Opera House’s most majestic space, the world-renowned Concert Hall, its high vaulted ceiling, white birch timber and brush box panelling provide an incredible setting for the Acoustic show.

With Jono, Paavo and Tony playing the piano, some strings, xylophone, acoustic and rock guitars, they will take you on you a musical journey like no other.

#2 OceanLab

Justine Suissa, the much-loved voice of OceanLab, with whom the group released the ‘Sirens Of The Sea’ LP in 2008, will join the trio at the Sydney Opera House and mesmerise fans with her incredible voice singing classics and other big hits.

“You’re a half a world away, But in my mind I whisper every single word you say. . .” expect tears!

#3 Incredibly talented Zoē Johnston will blow your mind

Zoē Johnston, long-time collaborator with the band and co-writer of the Grammy nominated ‘We’re All We Need’ will also hit the iconic stage.

#4 Above & Beyond have also lined up two new vocalists for the tour

The first new addition is Cobi, a singer-songwriter born in the northern most part of Minnesota. Cobi’s voice travels from low valleys to high peaks while his guitar is the heartstring of his powerful live performances. The second vocalist is Natalie Holmes, a UK singer/songwriter with a delicate and angelic voice who draws her influences from artists such as Ellie Goulding, Sara Bareilles, Bon Iver, Gabrielle Aplin (who she recently supported at Leeds O2 Academy).

#5 Above & Beyond will remind Sydney of the transcendental power of music

Above & Beyond will touch the hearts of thousands of Aussie fans with their stunning sound. Some fans may even break down in tears during the powerful performances.

Not long to go now Sydney!
