Ultra Music Festival Co-Founder Alex Omes Has Died

Ultra Music Festival co-founder Alejandro “Alex” Omes, 43, was found dead in his Miami Beach home, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday night.

The Miami nightlife legend is responsible the world famous electronic music gathering, Ultra Music Festival, which he founded in 1999 with business partner Russell Faibisch.

In 2010, Omes departed from the brand over Ultra’s decision to separate from Winter Music Conference. He sued to regain control of the festival in 2012, but at the time of his death, his lawsuit and claims were still pending. The cause of death is still unknown.

Earlier, Ultra released a statement about Omes’ passing:

“The organizers of Ultra Music Festival extend their deepest condolences to the family of Alex Omes and are saddened by the news of his passing. We will continue to remember and celebrate Alex for his love, passion and contributions to the Electronic Dance Music community.”
